• Commitment to Collegial Support.  One of the institutional expectations of the committee is to assure quality, consistency, accountability, and clarity for the sabbatical process. One of our goals, therefore, is to develop useful guidelines that will help make your task of writing sabbatical proposals and reports as productive and stress free as possible. You are expected to comply with all deadlines. Failure to do so may result in loss of sabbatical status for that year and delay of your sabbatical for one year.
  • Rejuvenation and Study—not Vacation. We all recognize sabbaticals are a limited and precious institutional resource intended to acknowledge consistently productive faculty with an opportunity to rejuvenate themselves and their contributions to the college. The expectation is, therefore, that you will return refreshed and eager to share both your new knowledge and your new energy with faculty, staff, and, most importantly, students here at SRJC.
  • Keep It Clear and Simple. The formats for the proposal and report have been simplified and we have sought to provide better guidance in filling out some of the sections. Please take the time to read very carefully what is asked, expected, and necessary in completing these important written documents, which will be shared with our Board.
  • Going Green.  The Proposal and Report forms are available as electronic templates and must be submitted electronically via email attachment as Word documents. The Proposal and the Sabbatical Leave Agreement and Promissory Note are the only paper documents generated because they require original signatures.
